- To define optimum brushless DC generator characteristics for marine hybrid application

3. Ability to adjust voltage to optimize battery charging
4. Maintain peak efficiency from minimum propulsion voltages to maximum battery charging
voltages
- To produce detailed efficiency maps for available diesel engines
- To match peak engine efficiency to operating range of hybrid system
- To use the EMM to interface the motor controller and battery charging program with the generator to achieve optimum performance
